Proud to paint Palace Monument
As most local people are aware, we have been attending Crystal Palace with our annual funfairs now since the 1940s so we have actually been involved in fairs here longer than the Crystal Palace was actually on site. As a mark of respect to the former Palace, a number of years ago we were asked to help to erect a small part of the Palace structure as shown in these images.
The other day, by chance, John Greatrex of the Crystal Palace Heritage Group asked us if we could donate time and materials to giving this striking monument which was part of the former structure of Crystal Palace was in need of a bit of tlc, and whilst operating our popular family fair this spring our staff spent a bit of time painting and renovating this iconic monument to this wonderful and innovative building, sadly destroyed by fire in 1936 but never forgotten.
We were delighted to help as we always support community projects and see ourselves as stakeholders in this wonderful place and to us the past is as important as the future.
